The Western Algarve
The Western Algarve reaches as far as Cape St. Vincent, the most South Western point of Europe. Marked by the famous lighthouse which houses the second most powerful light in Europe.
The West Coast features a succession of sandy and rocky beaches with high imposing cliffs and rugged inlets. Rich in flora and fauna with habitats ranging from woodlands and marshes, to beaches with huge sand dunes. Now designated a natural park it has become a dream for anyone interested in walking and want to enjoy nature at its most untamed.
The West coast beaches with their powerful seas are considered to be among the best by anglers, bodyboarders and surfers alike. Surf lessons are available through local surf schools and watersports centers.
The South Coast,where Burgau is situated, has safe, clean mostly gently shelving sandy beaches. The quality of these beaches make it a prime choice for family holidays. There are beaches to suit every taste with the majority having gained due recognition in the form of the EU " Blue Flag" for quality standards.
